I have decided not to pursue the additive module idea any further for a couple of reasons.
1/ The display uses a ton of power (400mA in total with the main board)
2/ The sounds that I am getting while interesting are just not that fantastic compared with much simpler technology like the FMVDO.
3/ I am getting a lot of noise through the codec when updating the display and working this out will be a big job that doesn't seem worth the effort given the above two points.
4/ Making a standalone table top version would be pointless unless it could be polyphonic and the current development system doesn't have the balls for this.
So sorry to say that's the end of that one. Maybe someday when displays can be had that require less power.
What I do want to try is a new Touch Sequencer with the color display and
put it in table top format with various jack options. Will see how it goes but it will definitely be a long term project so no idea about when or if it will happen.
Thanks for the encouragement. It was always intended more as an experimental proof of concept and I was never really sure if it would work as a releasable module.
